Food Recall, Dads and Depression, China Virus
Maureen Fitzgerald,
A recall involving clam chowder that was sold at Shaw's supermarkets in Connecticut.
Blount Fine Foods is recalling it's "All Natural New England" clam chowder.
There may be shrimp inside the mix,
That's not listed among the ingredients.
It could be a serious problem if you're allergic.
More than 14-hundred packages have been recalled so far.
The chowder is in a plastic cup,
With a sell by date of June 23rd.
The number of children diagnosed with hand-foot-and mouth disease in china is growing.
It's now up to 15,000.
4 more children have died, from a serious strain of the childhood disease.
Two kindergartens in Beijing have been temporarily shutdown.
There are 1400 cases alone, in the capitol city.
Again, there is no vaccine for hand-foot-and-mouth disease.
But this is an especially tough strain.
In the U.S., children typically recover from this within a few days.
And now to a study about dads and depression.
You hear so much about post partum in women-- but dads are not immune.
And if you don't seek help, your kids could suffer.
The results from the Eastern Virginia Medical School... showed that fathers of 9-month-olds are about twice as likely as other men their age to show symptoms of major depression.
And that depression can hurt their children.
The study suggests that depressed fathers read less to their kids.
And their children know slightly fewer words by age 2.
