SUSAN CHRISTENSEN is proud to be a part of the Fox 61 News at Ten Team, anchoring the state's only prime time, hour-long newscast.

In March 2005, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society honored Susan with the "Michael Schoenbrun Excellence in Television Reporting" award. The organization recognized one of Susan's renowned Fox Focus reports on the society's Team in Training program among submissions from 69 chapters across the U.S. and Canada. In 2003, Susan was honored with the National Multiple Sclerosis Public Education Award. In 1998, she won the Silver Telly Award for the station's half hour special "The Magic Behind Disney's Beauty and the Beast".

Susan has a "Best Feature" award by the Connecticut Associated Press and has contributed year after year to the station's five Mark Twain awards for "Overall Excellence". During her time here at Fox 61, she has several EMMY'S for "Best Newscast" and has been nominated 8 times for her anchoring, hosting and reporting by the New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Susan's pride and joy is her enterprising Fox Focus report on unsung heroes. Susan is the only main anchor in the state that reports weekly on citizens from around Connecticut who give back to the community. She says, "These are the people who volunteer, make the time to help others and improve their communities. Every week, I meet an incredible person and get to share his or her contributions. It's very uplifting."

Susan also hosts station programs such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Labor Day Telethon and her half hour annual special, "Fox Focus on Unsung Heroes" which Susan herself produces.

Before coming to Fox 61, Susan has been an anchor, reporter and producer for WTVD (ABC) in Durham, NC, WPXT (FOX) in Portland, ME, WYVN (FOX) in Martinsburg, WV, WMCT (CABLE) in Marlborough, MA and WMRQ-FM, in Meredith, NH. She was the first to report nationally "live" from the crash scene of American Eagle flight # 3379 in Raleigh, NC and was a correspondent for NEWSONE; ABC's feed service for all ABC affiliates, covering the Susan Smith trail in Union, SC.

Susan volunteers her time as a Board Member for the United Way of the Capital Area, and serves as a Cabinet Chairperson for the United Way's annual fundraising campaign. For the second year in a row, Susan is the Celebrity Chairperson for Habitat for Humanity's "Women Build" for 2004 and 2005. She also emcees various community events and mentors aspiring journalism students. A native of Garden City, NY and graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, Susan studied her junior year in Malaga, Spain. She and her husband Nathan now enjoy living in Central Connecticut with their daughter and son.
