Health - Blood Substitutes, lymphoblastic leukemia Immunity, Biological Clock, Fat Filled Eating Out.
April 30, 2008, 9:10 AM EDT

There are concerns that experimental blood substitutes may be doing more harm than good.

A doctor with the National Institutes Of Health found using the substitute led to an increased risk of heart attacks and death.

His recommendation? Studies on people should stop immediately.

The research team studied five different products and pooled data from 16 trials involving more than 37-hundred patients.

But the maker for one of the products tested said the research is not reliable because it lumped different products together.

Scientists have been trying to find a reliable substitute for blood for more than a decade. But the latest study shows it might protect them against leukemia!

The new research from the University Of California studied 20-thousand kids.

Doctors found those who attended day care were thirty percent less likely to develop acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common type of childhood leukemia, accounting for about 80 percent of cases. Doctors think it's because kids in daycare tend to be exposed to more infections, which actually stimulates their immune systems and protects them against the disease.

Doctors may soon be able to figure out just how fast a women's biological clock is ticking!

a university in the Netherlands says it has to do with the hormone AMH, which is directly related to menopause.

By studying that hormone, doctors can figure out when a woman can expect to go through menopause.

Women normally go through menopause between the ages of 40 and 60.

Men's Health magazine just released a list of the most unhealthy meals on menus.
