Rebecca Stewart
Rebecca came to Fox 61 in 2003 from WSLS Newschannel Ten, the NBC affiliate in Roanoke, Virginia. There, she anchored both the top-rated morning show and Newschannel Ten at Noon. Rebecca started her reporting endeavors in print, thousands of miles away. In Buenos Aires, Argentina-- Rebecca was an assistant editor at the only English daily there, The Buenos Aires Herald.
Rebecca returned to the United States to pursue her Master's at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. As part of the Medill program, she had a chance to work for several stations across the country-- all while based at the school's Washington D.C. bureau. There, she filed stories for KNOE-TV8 News in Monroe, Louisiana, for WHO-AM Radio in Des Moines, Iowa, and also for NY1 News in New York City.
But the most exciting promotion of all came in June of 2007 when Rebecca became a mother. Charlie arrived June 12, 2007-- he was 8 lbs 6 oz and has been growing ever since! Every day brings a new discovery-- babies have a wonderful way of making us see life from an entirely new perspective. He joins Chester the dog and two cats.
Rebecca holds Bachelors degrees in both Communications and Theatre Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master's Degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. She and her husband (Newschannel 8 reporter) Jamie Muro live in West Hartford.
Rebecca is also adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University in Hamden. She teaches a course to Master's students every Spring.
