Whale Watch
Catch a glimpse of some of the great mysteries of the sea
Sarah Cody,
Boston is the only major city on the East Coast that sports a whale watching boat! So, take the relatively short drive from Connecticut to Massachusetts and hop on The Voyager 3, docked at The New England Aquarium!
The on-board naturalist treats vistors to a tour of beautiful Boston Harbor as the vessel makes it's way to sea. After about an hour, the boat rests above Stellwagon Bank, where Minke, Finback and Humpback whales feed in the nutrient rich waters each summer. The federally recognized marine sanctuary is one of only thirteen in the United States and lies between Cape Ann and Cape Cod. This protected area is 842 square miles. That's about two-thirds the size of Rhode Island. The boat circles the "oceanic wilderness" for yet another hour, as whales rise to the waters surface and dive back below. The gorgeous sight is matched only by the beautiful, windy conditions off the Gloucester coast. This is a very special "daytrip" that allows visitors a catch a close glimpse of truly mysterious, majestic mammals.
