Springfield, MA —
Basketball buffs beware! This place is your hoop haven. The Basketball Hall of Fame is located in a new, state-of-the-art building that opened three years ago.
Inside, the giant basketball holds the "Ring of Honors" where the 247 "enshrinees" are pictured. Five teams are recognized, such as The Harlem Globe Trotters. Individuals like James Naismith are also shown. The Springfield College professor is credited with inventing the sport in 1891. The new Hall of Fame features all kinds of high tech, interactive exhibits. Take on players like Jason Kidd in "Virtual Hoops" and test your rebounding skills. A teleprompter allows kids to be a "sports anchor" for the day! And, a full size basketball court is always open for play. So, learn trivia and carry on tradition! Go ahead and get game!
