New England Air Museum
Experience Aviation History

Windsor Locks —
It's an "off-the-beaten-path" gem! The museum is tucked away, north of Bradley on 58 acres of airport property. The largest aviation museum in the North East sports three exhibit hangars, full of eighty military and civilian aircraft .
Thanks to Pratt & Whitney, Hamilton Sundstrand and Sikorsky Aircraft, Connecticut is known for it's unique aviation past. See rare items, such as the oldest running Wright Brothers original engine. The museum also boasts the oldest aeronautical artifact in the United States, a balloon basket created in the 1800's by a Connecticut native. The massive "Flying Boat", one of just three made by Sikorsky, has been restored to mint condition. You can also see a modern plane, one that is actually being used by the military in Iraq today. Even if you've visited the museum before, you may be surprised by some new additions. Just about a year ago, a new hangar was dedicated to showcase a "B-29 Super Fortress," the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, ending World War II.
