Snorkel In The Sound!
The Early Fall Is The Perfect Time

Off Norwalk — The water temperature has reached a season high and the islands off the Norwalk coast are the perfect place to snorkel through the sites of Long Island Sound!

It's very important to suit up properly because the water, even though it's warm, will take heat away from your body 20 - 25 percent faster than air. Snorkel and Scuba Pro Captain Saam suggests wearing booties and a wet suit to protect against coral and barnacles.

Also, rest a weight belt along your hips to offset the buoyancy of the wet suit. The face mask and fins complete the get-up! Autumn visibility can range from ten to fifteen feet bringing striped bass and flounder into close range.

Occasionally, ornamental fish from the Caribbean swim up the Gulf Stream to join their Connecticut brothers! Oysters, clams, muscles and crabs are abundant!
