Action Wildlife
Make Friends with the Grant Zebra and African Aoudad
Sarah Cody, Reporter
Goshen —
Take a safari by foot or car and hang out with animals you don't see everyday. "Action Wildlife" features animals from all over - India, New Zealand and the Arctic.
The stoic ostrich might just be taller than his furry friend, the llama. The six hundred pound Grant Zebra hails from the African plains and grasslands. The animals selected to live in Goshen can adapt to extremes in climate and landscape.
You can embark on a three mile walk to see the animals but the entire farm spreads over one hundred and sixteen acres. The goal is three-fold: to give the public a quiet spot away from hectic life, to educate kids and to treat animals with humanity and grace.
The petting zoo is a favorite for kids -- who can get "up close and personal" with baby sheep and cows. The not-for-profit organization is four years old and expansion plans are underway. Kids are impressed now, though, because they can talk with the animals in what looks to be a foreign land.
