Ferry For Block Island
Just Grab A Ticket!
Sarah Cody, Reporter
Block Island, Rhode Island —
Block Island is known as an unpretentious summer destination with great beaches!
Visitors can walk off the ferry and grab a bite to eat along the busy town strip. Renting bikes and mopeds is easy and common. While there is only one grocery store, one bank and one gas station on the island, the shops are plentiful! Everything from toys, knick knacks, art, jewelry -- even fudge -- is made there. A family-friendly beach is only a short walk from town and here's an added bonus: admission and parking to all Block Island beaches are free. Surfers converge on the south side of the island for some great waves while spear and fresh water fishing are also very popular.
Every summer, Block Island sees a large amount of visitors from Connecticut. Just take the ferry which leaves New London at 9 a.m. and departs the island at 4:30 p.m. everyday. OR, drive a little longer to Narragansett, Rhode Island and find more travel options on the hi-speed ferry.
