Apple Orchards and Panoramic Views
Start your tour by taking I-91 to exit 15 for Route 68 east heading towards Durham. After the traffic light, take 1st right onto Williams Road. Follow Williams Road, crossing the railroad tracks. At the stop sign by twin ponds, go left onto East Center Street, then a quick right onto Whirlwind Hill (panoramic vista at crest of hill). At the intersection with North Branford Road, go left. Follow to the intersection with Route 68, go right.
Continue on Rte. 68 east until you come to Main Street, Durham - Rte. 17. Turn left onto Rte. 17 into Durham's Historic District and then left onto Rte 147. This will bring you into Middlefield. Right after the Lyman Orchards Farm Market, turn left onto Route 157. Take 1st right through the orchards, (South Street). At the top of the hill, turn right on Powder Hill Road (beautiful vistas). At the end of Powder Hill Road, turn right onto Route 147.
At stop sign by Peckham Field, turn left onto Route 157, passing Wadsworth Falls State Park. (Option: To view the waterfall turn right onto Cherry Hill Road, waterfall is on the left before railroad tracks.) When you come to Rte. 66, turn left and head west on Rte. 66. Follow Rte. 66 to I-691 west in Meriden. Take exit 4 off Route 691. Go left at the ramp and then left into Hubbard Park. Follow signs for Castle Craig. At 1,002 feet above sea level, foliage views from Castle Craig are spectacular. Return to Route 691. Follow signs for Rte. 71 south. This will lead you back to the Wilbur Cross Pkwy and Rte. 68 to I-91.

1,802 acre park that includes a lake, tennis courts, a pavillion, swings and playground equipped for younger children. Castle Craig is a replica of an ancient castle resting 1,002 feet above sea level. Hiking trails lead to the castle.

Park open sunrise to sunset. No entrance fee.
