Janet Yee Wah Tso, 17, of Windsor, is a senior at the Metropolitan Learning Center, a Bloomfield magnet school that focuses on international
and global studies. Her work as president of Student Abolitionists Stopping Slavery, a group she and her friends started, has earned her
speaking engagements around the country. She was one of 30 students chosen worldwide as ambassadors to the Three Dot Dash Just Peace
Conference sponsored last month by the We Are Family organization. She plans to attend Connecticut College in the fall. Tso, center, is shown
with Meghan Hussey, left, of Windsor Locks, Kristen Negron, of Hartford, and Rachael Symonds, of Windsor, who are officers of the group and
also are students at the Metropolitan Learning Center.
