Hartford Police Identify 25-Year-Old Shooting Victim

May 5, 2008, 12:19 PM EDT

Police have released the name of a 25-year-old man who died late Saturday after he was shot outside a house at 21 W. Morningside St. in Hartford.

The victim has been identified as Jumar Joiner of Hartford, police said.

Joiner's friends dropped him off at the former Mount Sinai hospital in Hartford, and staff there alerted police shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Joiner was shot at least once. They did not release any information about the circumstances of the shooting or a suspect, but said it did not appear to be gang-related.

Any witnesses are asked to call Hartford police.
