Gold - $3,000 in college scholarships divided equally amongst student producers

Connecticut Commission on Human Rights Award
Judging based on the students that produce the best news story addressing human rights issues. The goal of the award is to have students explore behavior that will move us closer to making human rights concepts a living reality.
1st - $500 in college scholarships divided equally amongst student producers

The United Way of the Capital Area Service to Community Award
Judging based on the best news story that promotes community service by students. Students are encouraged to report on good works in our community performed by an individual or group to make our community a better place to live.

Judging based on the best news story that investigates and reports on current events encouraging students to report on the economic, political, social, sports and cultural life of Connecticut. 1st - $500 in college scholarships divided equally amongst student producers

Judging based on the best entertainment news story. The goal of this award is to encourage students to focus their report on the entertainment industry, events, artists, trends, music, local artists, exhibits, concerts, comedy, theater, movies, video games, sporting events, the media and performing arts.

Trantolo & Trantolo Award
The Trantolo and Trantolo Award is given to the best safety story. Possible topics could include, but were not limited to road safety (including bike and public transportation safety), home security, poison control and fire safety, laws related to children's safety, events dealing with the topic of safety, pet safety, people, companies, and or products that are making a positive impact in regards to safety.
1st - $1,500 in college scholarships divided equally amongst student producers

1st Place: Norwich Free Academy – Norwich – "Safe Schools"

Governor's Prevention Partnership Award
The Governor's Prevention Partnership's Award is given to the best youth leadership story. The goal of this award is to encourage students to focus their reports on youth who have exhibited exceptional leadership. The stories can include but are not limited to youth safety, role models, success and drug and alcohol prevention
1st - $500 for student scholarships

1st Place: Bunnell High School – Stratford – "Teen Firefighters"

One Thing Award
Judging based on the best news story that promotes conservation. Possible topics could include but were not limited to one thing students, businesses, and residents can do to conserve energy, alternative energy, tax credits, and conservation events.

Given to the best news stories in each division. Judging based on story delivery by the reporter, quality of interviews, originality of story, quality of writing, photography, audio, editing and overall presentation.

Silver - $1,000 grant for video production equipment for the school
