OneThing Award
The OneThing Award is given to the best conservation story.

HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION - 1ST PLACE $2000
MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION - 1ST PLACE $1000

On July 11, 2007, Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell kicked off a statewide conservation initiative called OneThing which encourages Connecticut residents to consider the impact that small measures can have on saving energy and protecting the environment. This is a movement led by Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell. The campaign is typically referred to as "Governor Rell's OneThing campaign" or "OneThing, an energy conservation movement led by Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell." The OneThing movement presents an endless array of opportunities for virtually every business and individual to make a difference.

The OneThing Award is given to the best conservation story. The goal of this award is to encourage students to focus their reports on how residents, businesses, schools, and teams in Connecticut make an effort to do OneThing to conserve. Possible topics could include, but are not limited to covering the OneThing your school is doing to conserve energy, alternate energy, tax credits, profiling a person who is especially committed to environmental conservation, highlighting a local business or organization that typifies the concept of OneThing, covering the progress of the OneThing campaign, and coverage of the OneThing Expo. See www.onethingct.com for more ideas.

The production quality of the news story is also considered when judging this award.
