Platt Tech High School
Date posted: November 4, 2005
School: Platt Tech High School
Town: Milford
Slug: "Platt Tech Auto Show"
Status: Re-submit
Length: :50

DELIVERY: Creative stand-up at the end, but remember to add information to the story in the stand up as well. To wrap it up you could have told us how much money was raised. Also, you only should not have more than one stand up in the story. You can skip the one at the beginning. You want to start your story out with attention grabbing information not a stand up. Use creative words and pictures right at the start to grab the audience.

INTERVIEWS: Good choice of interview subject. Also, an interview with a person who was at the show would have been an addition to the story. Interview subjects should not introduce themselves; you do that in your introduction. You can cut that out in editing. You will save time by cutting that out and will have more time to write about the car show.

ORIGINALITY: Good idea, but you need more information on the actual event.

WRITING: Remember that the role of the reporter is to tell the story, and is not generally a part of the story. You say "Our show", but you should be reporting on this as an outside source not a student at the school. We need more information on the event and more details. Why is this competition so important to the school? Is this the first year competing or have they won in the past? Try to be more focused in the writing. If you only introduce your interviewee once you will have more time to answer questions about the event.

VIDEO: Lots of great shots! Great quality. Nice job.

AUDIO: No problems. Nice use of natural sound.

EDITING: Good. Nice job rolling video over your interviewee after the establishing shot.

OVERALL: Great job on the technical aspects of the story. Please work on the writing and re-submit so we can get this on the air. Also, remember all stories should be send with 5 seconds of natural video and audio pad at the begin and end of the story.
