Town: Deep River
Slug: Black Highlander Bull
Status: Broadcast
Length: 50
DELIVERY: Very good delivery. Great stand up! Feeding the cow was a nice touch.
INTERVIEWS: Good source and sound bite. It would have been great have heard some emotion from the interview in regards to the birth of such a rarity on their farm. It seems like something she might have been very excited about. For example, "We've been raising highlanders for 30 years and we never expected to have a black on born on our farm. We couldn't believe it!"
ORIGINALITY: Good.
WRITING: Nice set up of the story. The hook of the story seems to be how unusual this color animal is and that it was born at this Connecticut farm. There needs to more illustration of how rare it is. For example "8 million bulls are in the US but only 2 of them are black and one was born right here in CT. Also, you never told us why this woman has the cows. Is it a hobby or a business? You mention them making good pets but it didn't seem like that is what the farm was for. In the sign off you say "This has been," but the proper phrasing should be "This is….".
VIDEO: Great footage. Close ups and action shots. Good lighting and composition. A wide shot of lots of cows on the farm would be a great addition.
AUDIO: Very good use of natural sound.
EDITING: Good job.
OVERALL: Good story. Nice work. Next time work on writing to the hook. Backing up the hook with information will make it easier to follow. An emotional sound bite would be a great addition to the story. It's a great chance to add that element to the story.

INTERVIEWS: Very good sound bites. Interesting information. Nice job fitting in three interviews.
ORIGINALITY: Newsworthy event. Very interesting.
WRITING: Very creative opening line! Good job telling the story and showing why the story was newsworthy. Work on writing into your interviews.
VIDEO: Great shots. Nice variety. Good shots of the eagles outside and their nests. Watch the lighting on your shots. The second interview was very dark.
AUDIO: Watch the ambient sound level. It's great to include natural sound but be careful not to drown out your voiceover.
EDITING: Nice job.
OVERALL: Very nice story.
