December 12, 2007
HARTFORD —
Connecticut now has a new home for the New York Yankees. Fox 61 WTIC-TV and CW 20 WTXX announced today they will carry 21 of the Bronx Bombers games in 2008, including games with the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets.
The 2008 Yankees season will be must-watch TV. Under new manager, Joe Girardi, the 26-time World Champions hope to return to the World Series in their last season at the historic Yankee Stadium. With a strong team including captain, Derek Jeter, and 2007 MVP, Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees will strive to continue their 13-year playoff run.
"We have the right team at the right time. Broadcasting NY Yankees baseball to CT on FOX 61 and CW 20 exemplifies our commitment to big event local television," said Richard Graziano, Vice President and General Manager of Fox 61, WTIC-TV. "Our new partnership with the YES Network & NY Yankees continues the momentum building at FOX 61 and CW 20. The award-winning FOX 61 News at Ten is a market leader. Our team is ecstatic about our expansion to a new local morning news show starting in the spring '08 that will be unlike any in CT."
It happens on FOX 61 and CW 20. We are home to the MLB Game of the Week, the only broadcast station to feature World Champion Boston Red Sox, MLB All-Star Game, MLB League Championship Series, World Series, NASCAR including the Daytona 500, NFL, NFC Wildcard Playoffs, NFC Divisional Playoffs, NFC Championship, Super Bowl XLII, BCS College Bowl Series, NY Mets and now NY YANKEES baseball!
