Producer/News Writer

REPORTS TO: Assistant News Director
ROLE: Responsible for using the materials and staff available to write and produce a quality newscast.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Write copy for News
· Assign colleagues stories to be written
· Help determine story selection and stacking
· Accurately time the newscast
· Coordinate editing of nightly stories and special projects
· Print scripts
· Select sound bites and video for use in news stories
· Research and generate stories
· Read newspapers daily
· Suggest news stories daily
· Field produce franchise reports ie: consumer or entertainment or other
· Perform other job related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to write clear, compelling broadcast copy
· Previous experience as a broadcast news writer
· Ability to remain calm under deadline pressure
· Bachelor's Degree in Journalism preferred
· Good attitude and team player
